Rotary Club of Boca Raton West and Human Milk Bank of Mogi das Cruzes: 10 Years of Unity and Solidarity in the Fight Against Infant Mortality

re

A decade ago, a visionary and compassionate project came to life in the enchanting city of Mogi das Cruzes, State of São Paulo, Brazil. On June 7, 2013, the Human Milk Bank was inaugurated. Since then, it has been a powerful tool in the fight against infant mortality, thanks to the collaboration and synergy among three fundamental institutions: the Rotary Club of Mogi das Cruzes, the Rotary Club of Boca Raton West, and the City Hall of Mogi das Cruzes.

United by a noble cause, these three actors mobilized and joined forces with the aim of reducing infant mortality rates in Mogi das Cruzes. Aware of the importance of breast milk for the healthy development of babies, they decided to create the Human Milk Bank, ensuring that all children had access to the essential nourishment for growth and health.

The realization of the Human Milk Bank was not an easy task, but rather the result of determination and commitment from these institutions. With the valuable support of Rotary International, through the Global Grant, they obtained the necessary resources to bring the project to life and turn it into a successful reality.

Since its inauguration, the Milk Bank has stood out as a reference in the care of newborns in the region. Thanks to the generosity and solidarity of donating mothers, many lives have been saved, and thousands of babies have had the opportunity to grow up in a healthy and fulfilling way.

To celebrate this significant achievement and to honor the noble act of donating to mothers, the City Legislative Council held touching tributes during Maternal Milk Donation Week. These tributes served to promote the work of the Human Milk Bank and encourage even more donations, as the demand for this precious resource is constant.

In these 10 years, the Human Milk Bank of Mogi das Cruzes has become a success story in the fight for the health and well-being of children in the region. Its inspiring history extends not only to the local scope but also became a reference model for other communities seeking to implement similar initiatives.

Rotary International, the Rotary Club of Boca Raton West, the Rotary Club of Mogi das Cruzes, and the City Hall have much to celebrate on this special occasion. The partnership and mutual commitment among these institutions were essential in transforming a dream into a concrete reality that has saved lives and provided a more promising future for countless families.

May the inspiring example of the Human Milk Bank of Mogi das Cruzes continue to encourage acts of solidarity and cooperation, demonstrating that when we come together for a greater cause, we are capable of making a difference and transforming lives. Here’s to many more years of success and dedication in favor of the health and well-being of children! Congratulations to all involved in this extraordinary journey!
